CLUB PRESIDENT
It's my pleasure to welcome all today's visitors to Billingham Rugby Club.
Whether you are a player, a committee representative or a loyal fan we give you whole hearted greetings.
We are well past our centenary now as we enter our fourth season in National 2 North so we are all looking forward to another exciting, yet challenging year as we expect another season of demanding rugby for all our teams.
Billingham RUFC is more than just a rugby club; it's a community built on passion, dedication and family spirit. Whether you're here to play, volunteer or cheer from the sidelines you are part of something special. As a proud and traditional club we hold ourselves to the highest standards both on and off the pitch. Respecting referees, supporting teammates and playing with integrity remain at the heart of who we are.
It's worth noting that to continue on our upward path of progression it would be impossible without the support and generosity of our many supporters and sponsors, to whom we are eternally grateful. On a personal level, I need to thank sincerely all our many volunteers who contribute to the day to day running of the club, both on and off the field. That includes the managers and coaches of all our junior teams, both boys and girls plus of course our embryonic ladies team.
It's impossible in a one off, annual piece to react to weekly events, however Chairman Mark Armstrong and DOR Peter Evans do change their contributions game by game so a special thanks to them.

Director of Rugby Performance Update

DIRECTOR OF RUGBY PERFORMANCE
Welcome to everyone joining us today for what is always a tough fixture.
Last week felt much more like us. We got back to playing the style of rugby we want to be known for, and while there are still plenty of simple things we can improve, we looked dangerous and played with real tempo.
This is a very young side, and it could become even younger with a few additions still to come. We ask for your patience and support as this group continues to develop. Keep backing us, and we will get it right.
It's still early in the season, but unfortunately we haven't achieved the results we wanted or perhaps deserved. That makes this weekend a huge game and one that both sides will see as a must-win. Wharfedale are a very tough team and will come here full of confidence and believing they can get the result.
The season really kicks off on 26 September when our 2nd XV and 3rd XV begin their historic league campaigns. Let's make sure we get behind those teams throughout the season, especially when the 1st XV are away from home.
On that note, I would like to say a massive thank you for your support. We doubled our home crowd last week, and it made a huge difference to the players. That backing from the sidelines gives the team a real lift, and we will need it as the season progresses.
Expectations are high this week, and hopefully we can deliver a performance and result that everyone can be proud of.

1ST XV & CLUB CAPTAIN
Home Turf, Fresh Determination.
This weekend’s game against Wharfedale, there’s a real determination within the group to put things right.
We’ve come into the week on the back of two defeats, which obviously isn’t where we want to be. However, there were plenty of positives to take from last weekend’s performance, and we showed a clear improvement in the areas we’ve been working on. The result wasn’t what we wanted, but the performance gave us something to build on.
Now, we have the opportunity to turn that improvement into a result.
There’s been a real desire within the squad this week to put the wrongs right, and being back on home turf gives us the perfect opportunity to do that. We know Wharfedale will provide another tough test, but we also know what we’re capable of when we play with the energy, intensity and belief that we’ve shown in training.
As a squad, we’re still building. With the new faces that have joined us this season alongside the lads who have been here for a number of years, we’re continuing to develop as a group and learn from these tough games. That’s part of the challenge of playing at this level, and it’s important that we stick together and keep pushing in the right direction.
The backing from the sidelines makes a huge difference, particularly when games are tight and we need that extra bit of energy. We’re back at home this weekend, so let’s get behind the lads from the first whistle, keep the support high and the noise loud.
We’re eager to put things right, and there’s no better place to do it than at home.
