Club President's Welcome

CLUB PRESIDENT
It's my pleasure to welcome all today's visitors to Billingham Rugby Club.
Whether you are a player, a committee representative or a loyal fan we give you whole hearted greetings. We shall endeavour to treat you well both on and off the pitch, regardless of the final outcome of the game.
As we enter our 102nd season, after over twenty years at Greenwood Road plus eight years with the AGP we are going from strength to strength. Junior and mini numbers remain high with girls as well as boys making Sundays a constant whirl of activity.
Actually I am still recovering from the final game of last season when the bonus point gained secured our place in this league. For twenty minutes we played scintillating rugby and quite frankly we were unstoppable. Of course the reward is to do it all again for a third season; at least we know what to expect, playing at Level Four in a professional league.
Each year I show my appreciation and thanks to the strong leadership, both on the field and off it. We are very proud of all our many volunteers who help keep the club moving forward. That includes all the managers and coaches in the Youth Section who are all volunteers too.
It's difficult in a one-off piece to react to weekly events, however Chairman Mark Armstrong and DoR Peter Evans do change their contributions game by game, so a special thanks to both.
In conclusion, after two hard seasons we are still up for the fight. A third season at this level does not daunt us and we still hope to establish ourselves permanently in NATIONAL 2 NORTH.

This weekend’s home game against Tynedale comes at an exciting point in our season.
With just two games left, we’ve put ourselves in a strong position in the league, and it’s a real credit to the group that we are now mathematically safe. It shows just how far we’ve come compared to the previous two seasons, especially when you consider how young this squad still is, with so many lads in their teens and early twenties stepping up week after week.
There’s been real growth in this team across the year, and that’s come through hard work, learning, and sticking together through the tough spells. Unfortunately for the Billingham faithful, we don’t need a last-day decider this season. I know how much everyone enjoys the drama, but that doesn’t take away from how important these final games are for us.
These next two home fixtures are a big opportunity. They set the tone for what we want to build going into next season, and they give us a chance to test ourselves against strong opposition and keep pushing our standards higher.
Tynedale are a very good side, as their league position shows, and with them still pushing for a playoff spot, we know they’ll come here with plenty to play for. That makes this a proper challenge and exactly the kind of game we want at this stage of the season.
For us, it’s about delivering a full performance, playing with intent, and making sure we finish the season the right way in front of our home support.

Lions – Double Header at Home
The Lions return to home soil this weekend as they welcome Tyne Dale Raiders for an exciting double header.
There’s a strong balance across the squad, with emerging young talent blending well with experienced heads — a combination that continues to drive performances forward.
After a tough test against one of Yorkshire’s top sides last time out, the Seconds will be eager to respond and put things right in front of a home crowd. Expect a determined, physical display as they look to get back on track.

3TM – Back on the Road
3TM make the short trip to face Hartlepool 2s this weekend as they return to action following a break from fixtures.
With the season approaching its conclusion, the focus is firmly on finishing strongly and building momentum.
There’s a positive mix within the squad, and the side will be looking to make their mark with a committed performance away from home.
